Buying At Auction
All bidders must register with us first! There is a once off registration fee of $5, however this is refunded as a gift voucher available to spend on either a winning auction item or at our Whisky Shop. You only need to register once for all future auctions.
Note: There can be a delay in the system processing your registration. We recommend registering at least 24 hours before an auction ends to avoid disappointment.

You will only be able to bid on lots when the auction is live! When the auction is live, you are welcome to bid on as many bottles as you like. We use an incremental system where you can bid any LIVE amount over the next minimum increment, or you also have the option to select the maximum price you wish to pay and the system will only bid the next increment if you have been outbid under your maximum (Proxy Bid).

You are able to see all your bids in your account and monitor which lots you have been outbid or currently winning.
The Auction will close on a designated Thursday every month from 8.00pm AEST. Any bids placed in the last 10 minutes will extend the auction time on that lot by another 10 minutes.
Please make sure that you have examined the lot carefully before you place any bids. By placing a bid on a lot you are confirming that you have examined the item and are satisfied with it.

End of Auction
Your account will show the lots you have won. Winners will also be notified by email. Both the email and your account will have a link to start the checkout process. You must make payment within 5 days of the auction closing to avoid a late payment fee of 2% per week in addition to your order total. We accept payment by Visa Card, Master Card, Afterpay, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay or EFT.
The following fees apply to the winning hammer price:
- We charge a flat Buyers Commission of 10%

We currently ship to:
- New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan & Hong Kong
- Flat Rate Postage Fee $50
We use Australia Post or DHL Express for these countries and it is therefore important that you send us your address in the correct format and include a local contact number. Please ensure your post code matches the city and you include the Region/State/Suburb where applicable. It will delay shipment if we cannot match your address to carrier systems.
Whisky Trade are not liable for any customs fees which may be incurred in the destination country. You are liable for these and will be responsible for making sure they are paid correctly.
Our Delivery Service
Any lots won become the owner and responsibility of the purchaser. You are welcome to arrange your own collection or delivery.
If local, collecting your bottles in person is highly recommended. If collection is not an option and you wish to have your bottles delivered, we are happy to arrange delivery on your behalf. Please note any loss or breakage is the responsibility of the purchaser, unless you choose to take our Loss & Breakage Cover.
Following payment of all amounts due, we will dispatch your bottles in accordance with the delivery options that you have selected following completion of the auction. Tracking information will be provided on dispatch.
All deliveries have to be signed for and will only be left with someone over the legal drinking age for their country.
We aim to post all paid items within 3-4 business days of order. Any delays will be communicated with the purchaser.
Loss & Breakage Cover
Loss & Breakage Cover is optional and can be selected at the checkout for your convenience. Whisky Trade is only coordinating the shipping of any winning bottles on your behalf. Shipments of glass and alcohol are not automatically insured with couriers. You are only protected against loss and breakage if you have a separate cover in place. We offer our customers Loss & Breakage cover at a cost of 2.75% excluding postage.
If you do NOT want to take out cover, and therefore you accept that you are shipping entirely at your own risk please do not tick the box at checkout to add this coverage. Please note liability for both loss and damage rests with the purchaser and no claims shall be entered into or against Whisky Trade.
We also cannot cover any cosmetic damage to bottle cartons/tins that occurs in transit or for minor leakage.
I have taken out Loss & Breakage Cover and my Bottle is Damaged
Please retain all the original packaging that we sent your bottle(s) to you in and get in touch with us as soon as possible. If you fail to keep the original packaging, this may void any potential claim. You will need to supply us with photos of the damage. Do not send the bottle back to us. We will provide instructions how to process your claim. Some carriers will require the bottle(s) to be presented to a local outlet to complete a damage report for direct compensation.
Legal Age of Buyers
All lots on our site may only be bid or purchased by persons who are at least eighteen (18) years of age.
By accessing this website and/ registering to use this website as a Buyer, you confirm that you are at least eighteen (18) years of age.
At delivery to the Buyer, all shipments will require the signature of an adult at least eighteen (18) years of age. Proof of age may be required at the discretion of the courier.
Restrictions of Sale
We reserve the right to refuse any items for the auction, especially when there are concerns regarding authenticity of the lot.
