Core heritage: The White Horse brand traces its origins back to the 1880s, named after the historic White Horse Inn in Edinburgh’s Canongate, which was owned by the Mackie family for over 250 years.
Blend profile: It follows the classic, unchanged 19th-century White Horse recipe, with around 30% malt content. The signature core component is Lagavulin from Islay, bringing distinct smoky peat, briny iodine notes, alongside supporting spirits from Talisker, Craigellachie, Linkwood and more, all aged in sherry casks.
Collectible status: As a limited Japan-market exclusive from the 1980s/1990s, it is now a sought-after vintage bottling, often scoring 86-87/100 in independent whisky reviews for its old-school, smooth, well-balanced smoky-sweet character.
