This rare bottling of 2014’s best casks was created just for Club Members by Tamdhu’s whiskymaking legend Sandy “Big Mac” McIntyre. Drawn from 100% Oloroso Sherry casks, first-fill European oak leads the charge with rich spiced fruitcake, toffee and milk chocolate, balanced against caramelised vanilla, raspberry jubes and a buttery nuttiness from the American oak Oloroso, with a small parcel of refill casks providing backbone and depth.
Tamdhu perfected their Sherry cask maturation under the watchful eye of former owners Macallan, gaining access to the exact same incredible Sherry cask sourcing. The distillery exclusively fills Sherry casks, relying on the nuances between first-fill European and American oak to build a complex, balanced dram.
After tasting the batch at a range of strengths, 50.7% ABV was selected as the perfect strength to express this single-vintage dram’s full fruity complexity, before bottling it with all natural colour and non-chill filtration.
