The Balvenie 14 Year Old Week of Peat Single Malt Whisky is a distinctive Speyside expression produced during the distillery’s annual “peat week,” when Highland peat is used to impart a gentle, earthy smokiness to Balvenie’s classic honeyed and floral profile. Matured in American oak casks and bottled at 48.3% ABV, it opens with aromas of sweet peat smoke, light florals, and butterscotch honey, leading to a palate that balances velvety peat smoke with citrus, oaky vanilla, blossom honey, and a hint of peppery spice. The smoke is softer and less maritime than Islay malts, offering a creamy, round mouthfeel with notes of charred citrus, malt, and subtle earthiness. The finish is long and lingering, with gentle smoke, creamy vanilla, and a touch of ashen dryness, making it an approachable introduction to peated whisky that still retains Balvenie’s signature sweetness and complexity.
