Bruichladdich 1991 The Yellow Submarine WMD II 14YO (700ml)
This bottling was named after a yellow mini-submarine was discovered and caught in a fisherman’s nets just miles from the distiller; the vessel was clearing mines left from World War II when the local fisherman discovered it. A good dram for a hard day’s night?
Aged in oak and ace'd in Spanish Rioja Wine Casks to give it exceptional and a unique balance, this is truly a one of a kind dram.
Malty sweet, spicy oak, slightly peppery yet balanced with light fruits especially apricot and some citrus in the background. Maritime notes are present due to the location of the distillery.
The oak cask is immediately present followed by caramel and fresh mint. Fruity and nutty with a touch of cereal. It becomes creamier when it breaks in the mouth (when drank neat). A little spray salt shines forth due to the salty air.
This is a non-existent Limited-Edition Expression bottled many years ago.
