Bladnoch 2007 Exclusive Release Cask Strength - TWC (700ml)
The sequel to one of the most sought-after whiskies is here and now’s your only chance to get a bottle.
Back in October 2018, Bladnoch released their first ever private edition: a superb 10 Year Old Cask Strength Created Exclusively for the Whisky Club. It had a huge waitlist at the time and has since become one of our (if not one of the world’s) most sought-after whiskies and judging by the massive demand for Bladnoch at auction recently that’s not at all surprising.
Now they’ve done it again one more time, only bigger and better than before...Introducing Bladnoch 2007 Cask Strength Created Exclusively for The Whisky Club.
There’s more to creating a whisky than simply marrying a whole lot of casks together and then releasing it at the desired ABV. Master Distiller Dr Nick Savage personally noses each cask in the warehouse every couple of years and writes down which direction the casks will take in terms of their release. Containing some of the very last remaining aged whisky in Bladnoch’s warehouse, this exclusive Whisky Club Release has been made by carefully combining first-fill American Oak and first-fill ex-Oloroso Sherry cask matured whisky.
Bladnoch’s spirit is the typical Lowland style of fruity, floral and grassy notes with a creamy mouthfeel, and the perfect base to add the sweet vanilla, honey and light spice of American oak casks. Once Nick had selected these casks, he added a similar amount of whisky matured exclusively in 500L Sherry butts. Not only do they bring the dried fruits, nuts and soft oak you’d expect, but most importantly they stretch the palate out, resulting in a tantalisingly luscious malt masterclass of freshly baked banana bread, creamed honey, chocolate-dipped strawberries and homemade blackberry jam. Bottled at 54.8% ABV pure cask strength, it’s non-chill filtered and natural colour.
This is the last Bladnoch private edition of this age and calibre and it’s certainly the last age-statement Bladnoch we’ll be seeing at the Club for a very, very long time as the distillery is running etremely low on aged stock. It’s only due to our very special relationship with the distillery that this never-to-be-repeated limited-edition sequel is even possible.
