Bowmore 1988 - Bottled 2017 (700ml)
A stunning release from Bowmore, one of their finest official bottlings ever.
Distilled in 1988 and bottled in 2017 at an age of around 29 years, the whisky has been entirely matured in first-fill Bourbon American oak casks (it is very unusual to see a first-fill whisky of this age).
Despite this long aging, this Bowmore has maintained its traditional, slightly floral peat smoke.
Bowmore 1988 serves up flavours of marzipan, dried cherries, floral peat, salted caramel, smoked meat, honeyed old oak, rich vanilla custard, toasted almonds, and citrus rind.
Bottled at the higher proof of 47.8% ABV, this is a warm, intense dram.
A truly fantastic Bowmore, and a perfect example of how good first-fill Bourbon matured whisky can be.
