Macallan Litha (700ml)
Released in mid-2023, the Macallan Litha was produced exclusively for the Chinese market.
In the past, Macallan was mainly used in blended whiskies, but during a market downturn in the 1980s, the distillery shifted its focus to creating single malt expressions. This fortunate decision coincided with a surge of enthusiasm for Macallan's highly coveted releases from the 1960s and 1970s, which continue to be highly sought after by collectors. Despite the dominance of neighboring Speyside brands like Glenfiddich and Glenlivet in global single malt sales, Macallan remains the top choice among connoisseurs. Their popularity even led to the opening of a new subterranean distillery in 2018, featuring 36 beautiful copper pot stills within the Easter Elchies estate.
Named from the solstice, known by the ancient Celts as Litha, this whisky has been aged in sherry seasoned oak casks. The packaging features illustrations by award-winning US-based Chinese illustrator Sija Hong.
